From the past... Boom, "The Explosion of Flavor."

Photo from the past...

In this restaurant, cafe, soda fountain, and ice cream shop, I took my first steps in the restaurant industry: El Boom, "The Explosion of Flavor." It was located behind the Municipality of Miraflores (1975-1995). I worked there for two years under the orders of Eduardo Rivero (formerly of Topsy, Plaza Bolognesi, and Davory, Av. Larco). Eduardo was a great mentor, and I learned a lot from him. He motivated me to pursue a course in Hotel Management.

The decor included colored acrylic bubbles on the ceiling, very fashionable at the time. The tables were accompanied by built-in sofa-like seats, cream-colored (I think), with cushions. The long, one-piece bar had very comfortable seats. All the decor was Eduardo's work.

We sold between 180 and 240 menus daily, and more than 600 on Sundays. "Imagine that

kitchen at lunchtime!" It ran like a Swiss watch. The weekday menu offered a choice of 4 appetizers, 3 main courses, and two desserts or coffee/tea. On Sundays, we offered 7 appetizers, 5 main courses, and three desserts. Shortly after, a children's menu was introduced, with a main course and dessert. Dinner consisted of three courses starting at 8 pm. In addition, there were à la carte dishes, sandwiches, coffee, teas, ice creams, desserts, cocktails, and wines. We had star sandwiches: the king burger, super king, and the boom burger, with a complimentary milkshake of your choice. This attracted a lot of people at night. Another house specialty was the "Boom Boom": a sandwich with chicken, ham, and cheese on a bun, with French fries and an egg, and for garnish, a hot dog. Extraordinary! These were the pre-disco meals; half a block away was "La Monella," a trendy nightclub at the time. Great memories. Long live the good times! Saludos.

P.S. The photo was shared by a friend from the gym.
