Tasting Amaretto Disaronno

"According to legend, this beverage was created by a young woman as a gesture of love and gratitude toward Renaissance painter Bernardino Luini, a disciple of Leonardo da Vinci, who was commissioned to paint a fresco of the Madonna in Saronno. She served as his model, inspiring the name Amaretto, a word that combines amaro (bitter) and amore (love), linking it to their romance. The young woman prepared this drink using ingredients from her own garden, which reportedly delighted the painter." (Source: Verema)

Comments:
Amaretto Disaronno is a delicious liqueur, perfect as a post-meal digestif—a true classic. I enjoy its bitter notes that evoke almonds and its slight spice reminiscent of citrus peel. The well-defined sweet-citrus profile of apricot is exceptional! It brings back fond memories of my great-aunt, who would serve Amaretto alongside pastafrolla and coffee for dessert.
When it comes to cocktails, two favorites come to mind:
Godfather: Amaretto, whiskey, and ice.
Godmother: The same recipe, but replace the whiskey with vodka.
Give them a try! Personally, I prefer enjoying spirits and liqueurs neat, at room temperature.
Drink responsibly.
