Tasting: Pisco Viñas de Oro Mosto Verde (Green Must Pisco) Torontel Gold

“A true delicacy for your palate, making the enjoyment truly worthwhile.”

Comment: As you can see, this new presentation of Viñas, different from the Quebranta version, does not have the black coating on the bottle; instead, it is slightly frosted, which allows you to appreciate the clean and colorless spirit. The bottle is very elegant, and I would include it on a formal dining table, accompanying dessert or just with a glass, as the mosto verde is dessert on its own.

As I write my comment, I can still taste the pisco in my mouth. It must have been over 20 seconds, and the softness and citrus sensations continue to refresh my palate. The alcohol level is just right, with a slight tingle that reminds me of lime peel—unctuous, silky, with a very light toasting. In the mouth, its softness persists. On the nose, citrus fruit aromas, orange blossom, a touch of cinnamon, and white fruit.

Aromas that create a perfect balance. I like this pisco, and I’d pair it with a Doña Pepa nougat or panettone with a few drops of it, lemon mousse, or passion fruit Bavarois. Really, pair it with whatever you like—it will always go well.

This is not a pisco for mixing (cocktails); it’s a pisco to enjoy neat with family or friends. Try a tasting exercise: pour some and ask, "What do you smell on the first nose?" Take notes, then smell it again, and keep adding aromas and sensations to your olfactory memories. You may not all perceive the same thing—it's just about playing with our senses. Remember, in tasting, there are no absolutes; everything is open to discussion. Saludos, always with responsibility. Cheers!
