Tasting: Pisco Viñas de Oro Quebranta Silver

“Viñas Silver turns your celebration into an invaluable story.”

Comment:

The new presentation of Viñas de Oro pisco is very beautiful. The bottle is lovely, and the black tone for this Quebranta pisco in particular seems very elegant. In fact, I was at a family dinner and included the bottle on the table, and it truly enhanced the setting—it gave it a clean, orderly, and elegant appearance. In my opinion, it’s also a bottle that can be served alongside a glass and dessert.

The pisco itself is correct, a typical Quebranta from Ica, with the strength we’ve come to expect—“it hits the chest,” a phrase I hadn’t heard in a while, but which aptly reflects what one should perceive in a pure Quebranta. Very fresh, with notes of dry herbs, a hint of the countryside, light hints of white fruits like apple. On the palate, there is a touch of sweetness reminiscent of black raisins, with a bitterness and sensations of pecan skin at the finish. Its 42° alcohol content is noticeable, medium intensity.

In summary, it’s a well-made pisco, perfect for those who enjoy it both neat or in cocktails. I paired it with chocolate! I would also suggest trying it with something lucuma-flavored, Doña Pepa’s nougat, or a suspiro a la limeña. In the end, the versatility of our Quebranta grape allows us to experiment with different pairings that we enjoy the most. Enjoy pisco responsibly.
