Friuli Venezia Giulia, an autonomous region, borders the sea and the mountains. It lies between Slovenia and Austria, nestled among high mountains and the Adriatic Sea.

The Grappa Storica Nera from the Domenis 1898 Distillery is crafted by selecting fine grape pomace, which is then distilled using traditional methods to preserve the aromas and scents of the original grape varieties.

Comment:
The grappa is very good. Honestly, I had never tried one at 50% ABV before. On the nose, the alcohol is pleasantly present; the 50% ABV is not overpowering. Notes of yeast, pomace, and subtle hints of fresh fruit are detectable, along with touches of dried herbs. On the palate, it enters warmly, with a medium-high alcohol intensity. Flavors of dried herbs dominate, with very faint hints of white fruits, such as apple. It has a long persistence and a finish that returns to dried herbs.

It’s worth noting that the distillation of this grappa begins with direct steam, producing an initial "raw" distillate of approximately 75% ABV. To reach 50%, water is added, followed by cold filtration, maintaining a temperature that ensures the preservation of aromatic components. Drink responsibly. Thanks Alvaro.

Until next time!
